Why I Haven’t Blogged Lately? November 2nd, 2010

I’m working on one of my dreams…

My goal has always been to inspire you, to share the love of Christ through my personal story of being an “Overcomer” and walking into purpose.  The official website for the writing that I am so passionate about will be on www.jenniferlucyinspires.com  The site is “Coming Soon…” Along with the book! If anyone has ever written a book you know that it must be edited, over and over and OVER again before you put out a final product.  I’m also planning my wedding with the help of my awesome Dream Team! 2011 is going to be an awesome year! So stay tuned!

Courtship Chronicles #3-The Proposal October 8th, 2010

Ok, so for my 29th birthday (October 3rd), my request was to be with my closest family and friends.  This wish came true!  My friend Nicole threw me a sleepover with some of my close girlfriends/sisters and the next day I was to experience a birthday surprise. Now I had a hunch that I would go to dinner and that my family and Jeff’s family would be there because I had hinted that I wanted this to occur for awhile.  As you know Faith cometh by Hinting right? Lol J/king!  To my surprise we drive to Sequoia’s at Georgetown Harbor in Washington, DC (Yep, I had NEVER been there and YEP I’m from DC) which was soo beautiful might I add!  I did realize that Jeff was not himself that day. He is usually A LOT more talkative, and I thought something was bothering him. Little did I know he was just nervous about what was going to go down later in the day.

We arrive at the restaurant (Jeff, myself, his mom and bro) and then my parents and brother walk in. Little did I know there were more special surprise guests! My very best friends & Jeff’s very best friends walked through the door. Again I was surprised that they were there, knowing one of my friends who showed up was in NY! She said she had rushed from NY home to DC to be at my b-day dinner. I was so happy to have some of my closest friends, and our immediate families together to celebrate my birthday!

Then my friend Nicole says, “ok Jenn we have a surprise for you and we have to blindfold you.” I conceded, still not thinking I was about to be proposed too, just thinking that it would be a good surprise.

I take off the blindfold, and there is a videocamera in my face and my friend Nicole tells me  to turn around only to find the love of my life on one knee, with a beautiful, gorgeous, classy ring in his hand.  He then says these sweet words that I don’t remember because I was so busy being shocked and nervously laughing. The only thing I heard was the actual question and my answer was, “OF COURSE I”LL MARRY YOU!”

This man has shown me over the course of our friendship and our year courtship that he is a man of integrity, honor, and virtue. He is beyond what I prayed for in a husband and I’m excited about being his wife! We haven’t chosen an exact date yet, but we will more than likely get married in September 2011.

So I share this story with  you as a testimony to encourage you to wait for God’s best for your life!  As you are waiting, follow God’s purpose for your life and walk in it. During our single state, Jeff and I were both walking in our purpose, serving God, whole and complete without a mate!

Lastly, Jeff and I are not having sex and will keep it locked until we say “I DO” at Spirit of Faith Christian Center in 2011!   God honors those who honor Him through righteousness! He is NO respecter of persons! We are preparing to enter the covenant of marriage and vow to continue honoring God in that ministry! Marriage is indeed a ministry and one which we do not take lightly!

Purpose Tip #6- Checklist to Discovering Your Gift August 30th, 2010

Several people always ask me how you begin to discover your gift.  I want to encourage you to take this self assessment with some of the activities you are engaged in, or even the current job you have? Asking yourself these practical questions can help you begin the process of discovering your purpose. Walking in your gift and your passions begins with being honest with yourself when answering these questions! People who are walking in their gift and calling often will answer YES to all or almost all of these questions!

  •  Is this fun to me? Do I enjoy it?
  • Can I do this all day?
  •  Am I happy doing this even without getting paid what I desire initially?
  •  Do I have a desire to learn about this gift and to refine it?
  •  Do I talk about this often, and enjoy sharing this gift with others?
  •   Do I do this well and even better than a lot of people?

I hope this Purpose tip has helped you today! And as always, “Pursue Purpose with Passion!”

Purpose Tip #5-Life For Me Ain’t Been No Crystal Stair August 18th, 2010

Mother to Son by Langston Hughes

Well, son, I’ll tell you:
Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.
It’s had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor –
Bare.
But all the time
I’se been a-climbin’ on,
And reachin’ landin’s,
And turnin’ corners,
And sometimes goin’ in the dark
Where there ain’t been no light.
So boy, don’t you turn back.
Don’t you set down on the steps
‘Cause you finds it’s kinder hard.
Don’t you fall now –
For I’se still goin’, honey,
I’se still climbin’,
And life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.

Life For me Ain’t Been No Crystal Stair! For years this has been one of my favorite pieces of work by Langston Hughes. I can definitely relate to this poem as I’m sure many of us can! I’ve been through a lot in life. Having been exposed to so much negativity in the earlier years of my life, there were no “crystal stairs” around.  However, what I’ve always loved about this poem is that no matter what the situation has been, she encourages her son to not turn back because it gets hard, to keep climbing, and to keep excelling! Basically, what I see in this piece of work is to, “LET GO OF THE EXCUSES.” Don’t turn back because you run into a challenge or a hard time!  Remember these two scriptural verses that help me during times of tribulation. Print them out, commit them to memory and focus on these words during the trials:

Romans 12:12, “Rejoice and exult in hope; be steadfast and patient in suffering and tribulation; be constant in prayer.”

(Key Words/Phrases- Rejoice, Hope, Steadfast, Patient, Constant in Prayer)

John 16:33
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]

(Key Words/Phrases- perfect peace, confidence, be of good cheer, courage, conquered it for you.)

Remember that if you are on the path of “Pursuing Purpose with Passion” the trials will come. The enemy does not want to see you successful and walking in purpose because when you are, you are a serious threat to the kingdom of darkness! Yet no matter what you’ve been through, or no matter what you are currently going through you have the power to overcome because as John 16:33 states, Christ has overcome them for us! No matter what the situation is you can begin to create the “Crystal Stairs” in your life!

Jennifer Schumpert's Blog - By now you should have read my bio located on our main website www.unleashingyou.org. So now is the time to share the quirky stuff about me!

"Once upon a time, there was a girl named Jennifer born in Washington, DC who thought life was all about her. She was literally out of control and did things that some people maybe ashamed about. In 2004, she met a man named Jesus, and this encounter changed her life! Through this encounter Jennifer recognized her gifts and calling in life; and did everything to pursue them. As she purusued her purpose, she's helped many of her sisters recognize and pursue their personal calling as well. She has been "pursuing purpose with passion" ever since and so "The Purpose Dr." was born!

She's also passionate about courting God's way! She has a fiiiiine man Jeff who is a 28 year old virgin! They are both living a life of sexual purity, vowing to wait for sex until marriage. So with that being said, she's developed a love for exercise because her future is sure to be very busy :-) Lastly, she LOVES people! Even the ones who can be difficult too love! Yep she loves you too! :-)"

The End.
